This is all multiplayer and skirmish stuff, mind. I guess the original Dawn of War remains the go-to RTS if you want a maximalist adaptation of 40K. This means there's support for 11 different armies. The 1.8 'grand release' of Ultimate Apocalypse, which came out on Sunday, is referred to as The Hunt Begins and adds two new factions and an overhauled skirmish mode, and focuses on mod-made factions Inquisition versus Chaos Daemons. Maybe that's just as well - the word 'epic' just makes me think of insurance adverts now. That is Epic, or Apocalypse as Games Workshop now call it. But I am going to point at it and say 'look! Look! Wouldn't it be amazing if this was as good as it sounded?' Unfortunately I've had more luck trying to elicit empathy in cats than I have trying to download 'grand release' of Ultimate Apocalypse at a sensible speed, so can't tell you much for at least another three hours. Epic was my first Games Workshop game, and because the first things we're exposed to are always the ones we believe to be the best, its grand-scale, massed army, enormous Titan-centric battles remain the only way I think 40K should be played.

I've never had a problem with any nexus mods I've installed for other games (Like Skyrim or Dragon Age as an example), so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here.I would love to froth at you about the new release of an ultromod for the original Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Soulstorm, which transforms it into a simalcrum of Epic / Apocalypse 40K.

Sorry for any inconvienance, I was excited for this mod and still am. I've tried to be as detailed as possible with everything, if there is any information anyone needs let me know and I'll supply it. But that was also updated 6 days ago, so i don't know if that's a fix for the new THB or for the UA. He also said something about make sure a race mod isn't uncommented out (don't know what that means either).
I even googled the problem and came across the FAQ section of the mod, where the author said try downloading from another mirror (I don't know what that means, or if I need to uninstall anything). When I activate them it restarts them game, but four the 4 versions of UA it comes up with a popup saying Failed to activate the requested game!
The only ones that open are Dawn Of War: Soulstorm (Thankfully), Tyranid Mod, and Tyranid Mod (GDM). Then I loaded up Soulstorm, went to game manager (there were a bunch of different options: Dawn Of War: Soulstorm, Tyranid Mod, Tyranid Mod (GDM), Ultimate Apocalypse (1.73.9), Ultimate Apocalypse: Campaign, Ultimate Apocalypse: New Races, Ultimate A: (With Tyranids). I extracted them all to the directory and replaced the files (overwriting I believe).

I didn't run Soulstorm that time to check but instead I downloaded the patch right after. I forget exactly what I did but I basically followed It's instructions and I extracted it to the directory (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Dawn of War Soulstorm\Tyranids).

I tried a tutorial because i had no idea how to play the Tyranids, and the only thing that seemed weird was the tutorial voice cutting off after he said listen to me.Īfter that I closed Soulstorm again and started installing the Ultimate Apocalypse mod (1.73). I quickly loaded up Soulstorm went to game manager and activated it (oddly there were 2 versions Tyranid and GDM which I don't know what does). Looking into it I saw that I needed the Tyranid Mod first so I followed the link and downloaded v05b2. So Yesterday I finally decided to download the Ultimate apocalypse mod (Full Version 1.73 straight from the main site). But I really just am having a lot of trouble with this. Okay, I feel bad because I'm sure this has been answered before.
